Part and Functions of a Microscope

Microscopes are among the well-loved equipment as of today. Microscopes play an important role in developing the lives and in furthering the knowledge that students acquire in schools. Moreover, microscopes are of a great help in discovering illnesses, treating these illnesses. Simply speaking, a microscope is a tool with many uses and its application far more outweigh its smallness.

To properly use a microscope, you have to know its parts and the functions of these parts. The eyepiece, also called the ocular lens, is used in viewing a specimen. An objective lens, on the other hand, collects the light and brings it to focus in creating the image. A stage is where a specimen are placed. Some stages do not have opening while others have; those who have opening in the middle allows light to pass through the specimen. A microscope also has a condenser. It is another kind of lens placed below the stage that concentrates the light from the illumination below, focusing it to the specimen on the stage, in turn magnified by the objectives.
